SJPP and AC Manufacturing Exhibition

The Competency Based Training Fund supported the SJPP/AC Manufacturing partnership during the last two years to help improve the skills and competencies of the Apparel industry in Barbados. This partnership was awarded funding during the first competitive cycle of the Fund to provide training and certification to sixty-four (64) persons in Apparel Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing of Sewn Products, Textile Material Design, and Business Development. To date, thirty-one (31) candidates have been deemed as competent across the cross four occupational standards.

The SJPP’s 50 & Beyond, Exhibition and Assessment was held on October 26, 2016. Exhibits showcased the revolution made in garment technology and highlighted one of SJPP’s top students, who recently shared her collection at the famous Plitzs New York City Fashion Week. The main highlight of the exhibition was the opening of the new Garment Technology Workshop which features computers equipped with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software.

Mrs. Kimberley Watson, Administrative Officer of the CBTF, congratulated the Principal of the SJPP, Mr. Hector Belle, and his dedicated team on the results which they have achieved to date, and pledged to continue working with them to improve the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies of the Barbadian workforce.
